Most Americans Agree With J.K. Rowling

Obviously, polling should not determine moral questions. But, this poll should encourage those of us who think biology matters greatly and that we should not be cow-towed into accepting a clearly outrageous and currently unpopular point of view. Most Americans agree with the Harry Potter Series author, J.K. Rowling, that there are only two sexes & two genders, male and female. (See my “More Than Two Sexes?” post and my post on Rowling for additional detail). And that those two are determined not by internal desire but by biological fact. (Christian’s would infer God’s direction as well.). And additionally, they believe that when you state such an obvious truth it does not mean you are engaging in “hate speech.” (Beware of speech codes which train people to be irrational. George Orwell taught us that.)

What you do with your life as a biological male or female will be partially determined by the choices you and your culture makes, but you can never change your basic biology. You will always be either male or female. Those who say you can ignore biology and create your own body-independent version of “you” are peddling a falsehood under the guise of “freedom” (i.e. radical autonomy.) They are also asking the rest of us to affirm that choice in the name of “inclusivity.” We should rationally refuse to take the bait.

But because most are fearful of being considered a bigot for not jumping on the Trans-Train or other “inclusive” futuristic transports they often remain silent. Especially when speaking out may jeopardize a career. Polling agencies, however, provide a certain level of anonymity and honesty.

Here are the latest results from a Rasmussen poll.

75% of American Adults agree that there are only two genders, male and female. 63% Strongly Agree. 18% disagree.

There is an interesting political breakdown.

Democrats are far less likely to agree that there are only two genders (47%) than Republicans (82%). 60% of the politically unaffilitiated say they “Strongly Agree” that there are only two genders, male and female.

"By more than a 3-to-1 margin, Americans oppose a key educational policy of the transgender movement. Sixty-eight percent (68%) believe schools and teachers should not be allowed to counsel students on their sexual and gender identities without parental knowledge or consent. Only 19% believe schools should be allowed to engage in such counseling without parental consent."

Also,

More Black Americans (68%) than whites (63%) or other minorities (55%) Strongly Agree that there are only two genders.

If politicians are wondering why many minorities, Blacks & Hispanics, are voting increasingly for republicans over democrats and therefore not voting “in their financial interest” they might want to consider this cultural issue as one reason. Among others.

From a purely scientific point of view there are few things more empirically grounded than the male-female binary. The survival of more than a few species depends upon the natural coupling of this fundamental difference. I’m not a botanist but I’m told plants have male and female characteristics as well. Again, few things in life are more obvious than the male-female binary.

Many feminists like Rowling are fed up with confused men like Jenner appropriating the concept of woman.  Jenner has never menstruated or gestated and given birth.  Lactation and giving suck would seem more than slightly problematic as well.  Without these unique female experiences, among other less biologically determined experiences, how could Jenner possibly know what it is to be a woman?

He can’t because he isn’t.

He can’t anymore than I could know what it’s like to be a 6’ 5” Chinese woman!  For those who don’t know me I’m a 6’ 0” white guy. (Go see this eye opening YouTube video which documents the present day confusion on our college campuses.)  I do hope one day we will look back on this era and ask ourselves, how did we believe such nonsense? We’ve done so before.

We are a tolerant society and are willing to extend a wide range of civil rights to confused people.  But, please God, let’s not affirm their confusion.

As a Classic Christian, I also believe God created the material world, a world that includes our bodies, and God called that world good. So from a Christian point of view, there is no such thing as a person born in the wrong body. Only a severely broken non-integrated person would think such a thing. That person deserves our love and respect as a creature of God, created in the image of God, but we dare not unlovingly affirm his or her delusion. No more than we would affirm the delusion of an 85 pound eighteen year old who is convinced she is fat. Anorexia is a psychological delusion just like gender-dysphoria. Those dysphoria’s are “real” to the person experiencing them because they have a mental illness. Let’s take care of the unhealthy by helping them discover the truth about who they are.

Always Erin

“No Child Is Born in the Wrong Body” is the subtitle of Erin Brewer’s book Always Erin. Here’s the back cover bio:

When Erin was a very little girl, two men hurt her. She thought that she got hurt because she was a girl, and if she became a boy, she would never be hurt like that again. But with the help of some wise and supportive adults, Erin learned that hurts can happen to anyone. She learned how to love herself as a girl again, and to know that no matter what, she was Always Erin.

Erin Brewer, PhD., is co-founder of Partners for Ethical Care and the Compassion Coalition, and is dedicated to helping people understand the underlying issues of gender dysphoria.

Here is an informative interview of Erin. She discusses her history and her current mission in life.

30 Minute Interview with Erin Brewer

A key moment in the interview:

(7:31] The thing is when I was working with therapists, they didn’t encourage me to disassociate (from my body). They encouraged me to INTEGRATE. They encouraged me to accept who I am. And they saw that disassociation as a disease, a disorder, because it wasn’t functional. It wasn’t helping me to be more successful and productive and accepting of myself.

Many of today’s therapists are fast tracking our kids, especially our girls, toward medicalizing their identity with body altering drugs and surgeries. You can read about it here, here, here, and here. Some states and Western nations have even outlawed the kind of Talk Therapy that helped Erin. Labeling it “conversion therapy.” [George Orwell Call Your Office!]

I encourage you to do what I’ve done. I’ve purchased a copy of her children’s book, Always Erin, and I’ve donated the book to a local library. There is another side to the story being told by Trans-Activists and Gender Ideologues. Erin’s side of the story needs to be included in our schools and public libraries too.

Pick up a copy and deliver it to those who need it. Maybe someone in your own family. (Paid link below)

“Sloppy Care” Top Trans Doctors Say

In exclusive interviews, two prominent providers sound off on puberty blockers, ‘affirmative’ care, the inhibition of sexual pleasure, and the suppression of dissent in their field.

A must read interview of two top Trans doctors by ‘my gal’ Abigail Shrier. It’s all about the inappropriate medicalization of dysphoric youth. And although Shrier doesn’t say it, I will, this and other recent developments1In May the Karolinska Institute, the same institute that awards the Nobel Prize in Medicine, advised its hospital to stop hormone treatments and surgery for young people under 18! vindicate the thesis of her book.

Here are a few quotes from the piece and some comments from me in [brackets] & bold italics:

(the) new orthodoxy (affirmative care) has gone too far, according to two of the most prominent providers in the field of transgender medicine: Dr. Marci Bowers, a world-renowned vaginoplasty specialist who operated on reality-television star Jazz Jennings; and Erica Anderson, a clinical psychologist at the University of California San Francisco’s Child and Adolescent Gender Clinic.

[Both of whom are Transgender “women.” Bowers has built or repaired more than 2,000 vaginas, the procedure known as vaginoplasty.]

Earlier this month, Anderson told me she submitted a co-authored op-ed to The New York Times warning that many transgender healthcare providers were treating kids recklessly. The Times passed, explaining it was “outside our coverage priorities right now.

[What! With many in Europe questioning the Dutch Protocol and halting the distribution of puberty blockers and hormones to anyone under the age of 18,2In May the Karolinska Institute, the same institute that awards the Nobel Prize in Medicine, advised its hospital to stop hormone treatments and surgery for young people under 18! the NY Times says the issue of dispensing puberty blockers to children is “outside our coverage priorities right now.” Unbelievable! You can read about what’s happening in Europe, here and here. When one of the leading trans-surgeons in the world says gender clinicians are being “reckless” that’s not a story to tell? ]

The problem for kids whose puberty has been blocked early isn’t just a lack of tissue but of sexual development. Puberty not only stimulates growth of sex organs. It also endows them with erotic potential. “If you’ve never had an orgasm pre-surgery, and then your puberty’s blocked, it’s very difficult to achieve that afterwards,” Bowers said. “I consider that a big problem, actually. It’s kind of an overlooked problem that in our ‘informed consent’ of children undergoing puberty blockers, we’ve in some respects overlooked that a little bit.”

[Can you say lawsuits? To all those clinicians and surgeons who assured children and parents that puberty blockers were “totally reversible” the trial lawyers are lining up.]

I asked Bowers about the rise of detransitioners, young women who have come to regret transitioning. Many said they were given a course of testosterone on their first visit to a clinic like Planned Parenthood. “When you have a female-assigned person and she’s feeling dysphoric, or somebody decides that she’s dysphoric and says your eating disorders are not really eating disorders, this is actually gender dysphoria, and then they see you for one visit, and then they recommend testosterone — red flag!” Bowers said. “Wake up here.”

[If you follow this Planned Parenthood link you will see they boldly advertise “Planned Parenthood staff may be able to start hormone therapy as early as the first visit.” Look below the section telling you about their locations in Texas.]

Wake up indeed.

The part in the story about world famous celebrity Jazz Jennings (male to female transgender “woman”) is illuminating. And heart breaking. Even after all “her” celebrity and financial compensation in the millions, Jazz admitted in 2021 to an eating disorder where “she” gained over 100 pounds in two years. It looks like “her” transition is not going smoothly. As you read that part of the piece and the parts about surgical procedures, ask yourself the question: Who is the Conversion Therapist?

Shrier’s piece is one of the best articles you’ll read on the subject. So…..

READ THE WHOLE THING.

If you’ve just found my blog and are intrigued about this issue, and want to learn more, I highly recommend a book by Abigail Shrier.

Shrier is a graduate of Columbia College who went on to earn a bachelor of philosophy degree from the University of Oxford and a JD from Yale Law School.  Her book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters was named a “best book” by The Economist and The Times of London. [2020, 2021]

Full disclosure. I recently became an Amazon Affiliate. So I will receive a very small percentage of the sale of any books I recommend on my blog. Just so you know.
